Kentucky Christian shuts out Rams

GRAYSON, Ky. – The Kentucky Christian University Knights capitalized on Bluefield College turnovers and played strong defense to shut out the Rams 45-0, Sunday afternoon.
Things were tough for BC from the outset as KCU took the opening kick and drove 87 yards for the game's first score. The Rams had a three-and-out on their first possession. In the second quarter the Knights made it 14-0 as Jakwon Roberts threw his second TD pass of the game.
Bluefield fumbled the second half kick at their own 41, and KCU capitalized with a 14-yard TD pass by Roberts. The kick made it 21-0. The Rams' first play after the ensuing kickoff was an interception. One play later Roberts threw another touchdown. The extra point made it 28-0. A long drive and score pushed the lead to 35-0 and a field goal pushed the lead to 38-0. Another kickoff fumble gave KCU the ball at the Bluefield 39, and plays later the Knights scored to make it 45-0.
The Rams were unable to get in sync on either side of the ball as the offense gained only 128 total yards on 48 plays. KCU had 93 plays for 615 yards.
The game was moved back one day as the Grayson area struggled with a winter storm that left three inches of snow and three inches of ice on the playing surface. Also the campus and town was without water and electrical service for a period of time.
BC is open next week before hosting Point on March 6. A rematch with Kentucky Christian is scheduled for March 13 at Mitchell Stadium.
