COLUMBIA, S.C. - Softball's three-game winning streak came to an end Friday afternoon as the Columbia International University Rams took an AAC doubleheader from from the BC women 4-3 in 10 innings in the first game and 15-7 in the nightcap.
In the opener the teams battled into extra innings and BC took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 10th inning before CIU scored two in the bottom of the frame to gain the win.
Lexi Harmon was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Harmon had a two run home run and knocked in the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning. Macy Martin, MaKenzie McKern and Veronica Casanova each had a pair of hits for Bluefield.
Harmon suffered the loss in the circle for Bluefield. She worked the complete game and struck out 10 CIU batters.
In game two CIU raced out to an 8-0 lead in the first two innings and the BC Rams fought uphill the rest of the game. Bluefield scored six times in the fourth inning but the CIU Rams maintained the lead and went on for the 15-7 win.
Harmon, Martin, and McKern all had two hits apiece and McKern knocked in three runs. Martin had two RBIs.
