BLUEFIELD - Carlos Torres' walk off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Bluefield College to a 10-9 win over Thomas More, Saturday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader at Bowen Field. The Saints defeated the Rams 7-4 in the nightcap.
Torres' hit capped a Rams' come-from-behind win in the opener. BC scored four times in the first inning, but Thomas More took the lead in the middle innings. Bluefield tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single by
Edgardo Bernard.
Bernard finished with a pair of hits and an RBI, while
Lenyn Napoleon knocked in three runs with a double.
Justin Coleman picked up the win as he worked the final two innings on the mound for BC.
In the nightcap the Saints scored four times in the fourth to take the lead and built a 5-0 lead the Rams could not overcome.
Kody Gardere suffered the loss for BC.
The two teams wrap up the series Sunday afternoon with a single game. First pitch is set for high noon at Bowen Field.
