Rams shoot past TMU Bears

BLUEFIELD – Men's Basketball got back on the winning track Monday night with an 81-64 AAC win over Truett McConnell at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams led from the outset as Stanley Christian drained a three to open the game. The Rams quickly opened a double-digit lead and did not look back on their way to a 41-26 halftime lead. In the second half the BC lead was as high as 21 points.
Christian topped the Bluefield scoring column with 24 points. He had a team-high seven rebounds. Jermiah Jenkins had 20 points, four steals and three assists, while Wilcliff Senatus tallied 10 points with six rebounds.
The Rams shot 48% in the opening half and 52% for the game.
"It was a must-win game for us. I think we went out and performed well," said Rams Head Coach Richard Morgan. "When we practiced yesterday there was a different energy because we had the protocol guys who came in with energy and they made all the guys raise their level of performance. I think it had carryover to tonight's game and I think that's why we had the performance we had tonight."
On newcomer Senatus, Morgan said, "He's going to be good for us because he gives us that undersized post that we have always needed. He an score in there too, so we don't have to rely so much on Stan's (Christian) inside ability. He (Senatus) has done some nice stuff for us on the block and playing D."
Marion Allen led Truett McConnell with 17 points and Darius Tisby had eight rebounds.
With the win the Rams remained unbeaten at home this season.
