BLUEFIELD - It took overtime for Union College to defeat the Rams, Thursday night in the first game of 2020 at the Dome Gymnasium, 80-74.
The visiting Bulldogs entered the game receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll and held a slim 38-34 halftime lead. The Bulldogs came out hot in the second half and opened their biggest lead of the game, 14 points, after which the Rams slowly worked their way back and with just seconds left tied the game and forced overtime.
In the extra period Union won the battle and took the game.
Niquan Cousins led BC with 23 points and seven rebounds.
Wes Ayers added 12 points.
Union had three scorers in double-figures, led by Shylier Ringgold with 27.
