Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rams get season's first win

BLUEFIELD - Carleek Owens' header off an assist from Ty Campbell found the back of the net in the game's 17th minute and proved to be all the Rams needed to defeat Cincinnati Christian University 1-0, Saturday morning at the East River Soccer Complex.
The hard-fought match was contested until the final seconds as the teams battled back and forth before BC was able to claim the victory over a CCU team that came to Bluefield undefeated.
"This is a great building block for us. Cincinnati Christian University, they have a good team and I expect them to grab some good results this season," said Rams head men's coach Justin Morton. "So for us it's a great test and one that we can definitely build off of.
"This victory is important early in the season because we have a string of games coming up that are difficult, so we really want to hunker down as a team and look to find and do whatever we can do to get these victories. Today we had to play a very good opponent. We had to sit in and we had to choose opportunities and we had to be picky and the boys did that and we had a great goal by Carleek and a good assist by Ty to send the ball in. While a 1-0 victory doesn't look impressive on paper, it's an opponent that out-shoots us by about seven, but I feel pretty confident we can carry the momentum and turn it into something against UPike on Monday."
Keegan Brade had six saves in goal for Bluefield.
