BLUEFIELD - Nathan Cutler pitched eight shutout innings to lead the Rams to a 2-0 victory over NAIA No. 23 Bryan College, Tuesday afternoon in the three-game AAC series finale at Bowen Field.
Cutler scattered five hits and struck out eight and did not walk a batter in picking up the win.
Kody Gardere pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save.
At the plate
Lenyn Napoleon was 3-for-4 and
Marcus Espinal was 2-for-3 with a home run. It was Espinal's second home run in as many days. He hit a grand slam in Monday's second game, which the Rams lost to Bryan 8-7. Bryan won Monday's opening game 12-1.
The Rams wrap up regular season play this weekend, hosting NAIA No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan in a three-game set. Friday's game is set to begin at 6 p.m., with a 1 p.m. doubleheader set for Saturday. The Rams will observe Senior Day prior to Saturday's games.
