BLUEFIELD - Baseball claimed the final Battle of the Bluefields of the school year at Bowen Field, Wednesday evening, taking a 27-14 win.
The Rams pounded out 28 hits in taking the victory over their crosstown, cross-state rival in their only meeting of the year on the diamond. State took an early lead, but BC came back, took the lead and held on for the victory. Steven Estep got the win on the mound as he worked two innings.
Kody Gardere pitched the final four innings, all scoreless, to earn the save.
At the plate all nine BC hitters had at least two hits. Leading the way was
Ozzie Millet who was 5-for-7 with three RBIs.
Edgardo Bernard was 4-for-5 with five RBIs and
Jordan Huntley was 4-for-6.
Joseph Cardona knocked in four runs.
Marcus Espinal, Cardona and Bernard all homered for the Rams who gave head coach
Mike White his 395th career win.
The Rams' weekend AAC series with Bryan has been rescheduled for next Monday and Tuesday due to weather.
