BLUEFIELD – In a Friday morning match at The Dome, and on Lawrence Tech's final spring break match on their way back to Michigan, the Rams and Blue Devils battled on the volleyball court. LTU took a three set victory.
The first set was one of streaks. The Rams led early but Lawrence Tech fought back to tie the opening set on several occasions before BC opened a six-point lead, 14-8, after an 8-8 tie. LTU battled back and tied the set at 15 and later took the lead 19-18 and went on to win the opening set 25-20.
Lawrence Tech moved ahead by two points and the Rams tied at 10. After battling closely, the Blue Devils moved ahead by three, 17-14 at which time BC called time. The Rams rallied late, but LTU won the second set 25-22.
The third set was closely contested with Lawrence Tech moving out to a five-point lead late, 19-14, the biggest lead in the set at that point. The Blue Devils went on to take the set 25-17 and the match.
Alberto Chiaparini had 11 kills, Chaz Franqui 19 assists and Aieron Leary six digs.
