JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Baseball opened the 2019 season with a doubleheader split at Edward Waters College on Friday, Feb. 1. The Rams took Game 1 by the score of 8-2, while the Tigers bounced back to take the nightcap 9-8.
In the opener the Rams scored three runs in the first to take the lead and never looked back.
Ozzie Millet had a two-run double in the inning and was 1-for-4 in the game with two RBI.Â
Edgardo Bernard also knocked in a run in the first inning and finished game one 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Alex Perkins got the win on the mound as he pitched five innings and struck out four batters.
Game two saw Edward Waters take the lead and the Rams rally late, but fall short. Trailing 9-5 headed into the seventh inning, the Rams scored three times in the final frame but came up a run short.
Nick Meadows was 3-for-4 in the game for BC.
Steven Estep started on the mound for Bluefield and suffered the loss.
The teams conclude their series with a doubleheader Saturday in Jacksonville.
