BLUEFIELD - In its final game before the Christmas break, men's basketball fought hard, but dropped a 61-58 contest to AAC foe Tennessee Wesleyan, Saturday afternoon at the Dome Gymnasium.
Freshman
Brandon Shields was on fire early for BC as he scored the team's first eight points, including three straight from behind the three-point arc. His trey with 1:30 to play before the half gave the Rams a 25-24 lead, but TWU scored the remaining points of the opening half to take a 29-25 lead into the intermission.
Minutes into the second half
Ty'quon Reid's three-point play gave the Rams the lead and BC went up five midway through the second 20 minutes and with just over five minutes left in the game the teams were tied at 50.
With less than a minute to play it was a one-point game, but TWU held on for the win.
Shields topped the scoring column for the Rams with 17 points.
Jorge Concepcion III added 17, while
Niquan Cousins had a team-high 12 rebounds.
Ty Patterson of Tennessee Wesleyan led all scorers with 20 points.
