Rams pummel Bulldogs

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Football got back on the winning track Saturday night with a 58-21 Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division win at Union College. The win snapped a two-game losing skid the Rams had at the hands of two ranked MSC-Appy Division teams, Reinhardt and Cumberlands.
Malik Brown rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns, while Cason Whitt completed 11-of-20 passes for 188 yards and three scores. Antonio Strickland and Charles Black each had three catches and a touchdown for the Rams.
Defensively DaMarcus Wimbush paced BC with nine tackles including a pair of sacks. Josh Taylor had six tackles. The Rams had four sacks and 13 tackles for loss.
Tyrice Henry put Bluefield on the board with a 47-yard interception return for a score and Tanner Griffith's kick made it 7-0. Brown's one-yard run and Griffith's kick made it 14-0 and Whitt's 24-yard scoring strike to Lowell Patron Jr. and Griffith's kick made it 21-0 before Union scored its first points.
Whitt's 19-yard TD pass to Charles Black and Griffith's extra point made it 28-7 and that is where it stood at halftime.
After the break Whitt connected with Antonio Strickland on a 35-yard scoring strike and scored on a 7-yard keeper before Union scored a pair of TDs. The Rams' final scores of the night came of Brown's second TD of the game, a seven-yard run, and Henry's second score of the night, a 36-yard punt return, and a 36-yard field goal by Griffith.
The 58 points scored by Bluefield were the most scored since Oct. 18, 2014 when the Rams defeated Union 65-58 on the same field.
BC welcomes Pikeville to Mitchell Stadium next Saturday for Homecoming 2019. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
