BLUEFIELD – Women's soccer returned to the East River soccer pitch for the first time since Sept. 26 and dropped a hard-fought 2-0 match to the St. Andrews University Knights.
After a scoreless first half, SAU notched the game's first goal in the 54^th minute when Madi Castro found the back of the net. The teams battled tough throughout until SAU added its final goal in the 86^th minute.
Goalkeeper Farah Schweers had 10 saves for Bluefield.
The win was St. Andrews' first of the season in seven games. The Knights season shortened as a result of Hurricane Florence which devastated the St. Andrews campus and forced cancellation of many sporting events and caused much damage to Laurinburg, N.C.
