BLUEFIELD -
Tanner Griffith booted a 36-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Bluefield College Rams to a 13-10 win over Warner University, Saturday night at Mitchell Stadium in the first overtime game in school history.
Bluefield took the opening kick and drove into Warner territory, but the drive stalled. The Royals responded with an eight-play 72 yard drive for the game's first score. Quarterback D.J. Davis scampered five yards for the score and the point made it 7-0 with 9:23 to play in the opening period.
Bluefield responded seconds into the second quarter as
Alex Martin ran four yards for paydirt, capping an 11-play 82 yard Bluefield drive. Griffith's extra point tied the game at seven. The Rams took the lead later in the period on a 32-yard field goal by Griffith and carried that 10-7 lead into the half.
Warner knotted the contest late in the third quarter as Geness Kennedy-May was good on a 34-yard field goal.
Despite both teams driving and threatening, neither could score in the fourth quarter and the teams headed to overtime.
Bluefield won the coin toss and chose to go first on defense. From the BC 25 Warner's field goal attempt in the extra period was blocked by
Darius Flowers.
The Rams took possession at the Warner 25 and after a couple of short runs and an incomplete pass, Griffith entered and booted the game-winning kick.

Alex Martin added 64.
