BECKLEY, W.Va. - Bluefield College men's soccer team hit on all cylinders on Wednesday night in a dominating performance to defeat West Virginia Tech 3-0 at the Paul Cline YMCA Soccer Complex in Beckley.

The Rams set the tone from the opening kickoff and dictated play throughout the 90 minutes.Â

Bluefield has now scored 17 goals on the season and have given up only three. The Rams have started a men's soccer season with six straight victories - a program first.Â

The team got on the scoreboard first off a quick transition. Off a WVU Tech corner kick, the clearance ball found the feet of a Ram. In the 9th minute,
Salvatore Viola pushed at the Tech defense, found
Joao Delgado behind the back line and neatly slotted home the first goal of the evening on a fantastic counterattack.Â

After numerous opportunities on the Rams offensive end, they earned consecutive corner kicks.Â

The Rams doubled their lead on a well-executed set piece.
Joe Stacey received the ball and served a dangerous ball into the 6-yard box, where
Sandro Stalder nicked home the near post ball to give the away side a 2-0 advantage going into the halftime break.Â

Bluefield continued peppering the opponent in the second half and were able to find the solidifying goal to make it 3-0.

A good buildup from the back, the Rams found winger
Felipe Brugnari out wide on the flank. He beat his defender and served a ball into a dangerous area. Delgado beat Tech's goalkeeper to the near post and nailed home his second goal of the night.Â

Bluefield's team defense was another bright spot on the evening. The Rams picked up their fourth shutout in six games.Â

Delgado picked up the brace for the Rams, while Stalder added a goal to his freshman campaign.Â

A big weekend awaits for Bluefield, as the team will begin AAC play by hosting Truett McConnell (Ga.). The two teams both come in with undefeated records.
