Rams corral Buffaloes

Box Score BLUEFIELD - Lamont Strickland's basket in the paint with 2.9 seconds remaining lifted the Bluefield College Rams to an 83-82 win over the Milligan College Buffaloes, Wednesday night before a raucous crowd at the Dome Gymnasium.
Tied at 40 at the half, Milligan pulled out to an 11-point lead twice in the second half only to see the Rams charge back each time. The final charge proved to be the game winner for Bluefield. Milligan retook the lead with a pair of free throws with 10.9 seconds left. Sidney Knox took the inbounds pass, drove the court and dished to Strickland in the paint who dribbled once and laid it off the glass for the game-winning shot. Milligan turned the ball over on the inbounds play and Bluefield claimed the win.
Cordaris Townes led Bluefield with 22 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals. Teyon Henry scored 15 points coming on five three point shots. Knox tallied 12 points with four assists and three steals.
Milligan was led by Jacob Cawood with 20 points and six rebounds.
The Rams, now 12-13 overall and 9-6 in the AAC, play Saturday at Truett McConnell. Milligan falls to 11-12 overall and 8-8 in the AAC.
