Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – Allen University, a first-year member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference, made their first visit to the Dome as an AAC member and came away with an 83-73 win over the Bluefield College Rams, Wednesday night.
Allen controlled tempo from the outset and led 40-32 at the intermission. In the second half the Yellow Jackets lead expanded to 12 in the first two minutes of action. The lead grew as high as 19 before the Rams charged. Bluefield was back to within 10 when Tony Hood drained a three with 8:00 to play.
A pair of technical fouls on Allen at the 7:26 mark sent Bluefield to the line where Teyon Henry made three of four shots to make it a seven point game, 66-59 in favor of Allen. Jorge Concepcion's three with 2:01 left made it a six point game, 77-71 with Allen in the lead. Two free throws by Concepcion with 1:06 to play made it a five point game. That was as close as the Rams would get.
Henry led Bluefield with 14 points and Concepcion finished with 13.
Brandon Moore led Allen with 29 points.
Allen improved to 7-11 overall and 5-7 in conference play and earned a split in the season series with Bluefield.
The Rams are now 10-12 overall and 7-5 in the AAC and will play Saturday at Reinhardt.
