Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – It started and ended with the seniors Wednesday night for the Bluefield College men's basketball team. The five Rams seniors were on the court for the opening tip on the final horn as the Rams outlasted St. Andrews 72-61 at the Dome Gymnasium.
The visiting Knights grabbed the early lead, scoring the game's first seven points and BC took its first lead on
Tony Hood's three at 16-15 midway through the opening half. The teams battled back and forth and at the half SAU was on top by one, 30-29.
Close play continued into the second half and BC put a little distance between themselves and the Knights on a pair of threes by
Joseph McClain that made it 47-43. Later in the half the Rams extended their lead to seven on a Hood three and a slam by
Cordaris Towns that made it 63-56.
McClain led the Rams in scoring in his final regular season home game with 22 points. Hood and Towns finished with 15 apiece and Towns had a game-high 18 rebounds along with a pair of steals.
Prior to the game Bluefield honored five seniors for their contributions to the program –
Alonzo Howard,
Joseph McClain,
Robert Pinkston,
Darius Scott and
Zeke Williams.
The Rams are now 16-11 overall and 8-9 in the AAC. They will wrap up regular season play Saturday, Feb. 20 at Reinhardt.
Lee Vanderhorst led St. Andrews and all scorers with 28 points. The Knights fell to 9-16 overall and 5-13 in the AAC.
