Box Score BLUEFIELD - A tornado ripped through Athens, Tenn., Tuesday night, causing some damage on the TWU campus. Wednesday night the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan charged into the Dome Gymnasium and blew past the Bluefield College Rams 83-57, snapping BC's five game winning streak and handing the Rams their first Appalachian Athletic Conference loss of the season.
TWU jumped out to an early double-digit lead and did not look back as the Bulldogs led 41-21 at halftime, thanks in large part to Bluefield shooting only 26 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.
The Rams provided some excitement in the second half on jams by
Cordaris Townes and
Khadier Fulcher, but the night belonged to Tennessee Wesleyan.
Townes led Bluefield with 12 points and six rebounds, the only Ram to score in double figures. He also had three assists and a block.
Tre Tiller led Tennessee Wesleyan (6-2, 4-0 AAC) with 14 points and Will Gardner had 12 rebounds.
Bluefield (5-8, 2-1 AAC) returns to the court Saturday, hosting AAC foe Bryan. The men tip at 8 p.m., the women's game gets underway at 6:00 in the Dome.
