Box Score BLUEFIELD – The Rams got their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, as they won their homecoming game over Cincinnati Christian University by a score of 28-7.
Braxton Knotts got the Rams on the board early as he ran for a 65-yard touchdown to open the scoring at 14:07 of the first quarter. CCU responded by marching down field 90 yards, finishing off the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. It took BC just two plays to get back on the board, as Cason Whitt connected with Knotts for a 77-yard TD pass.
The Rams made a big defensive stop to close out the first quarter. There would be no scoring from either team in the second quarter.
Frank Brooks got BC back into the end zone at the 7:40 mark of the third quarter with a 65-yard punt return TD. Alex Martin would then cap off a dominant day with a 13-yard TD run in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
The Rams gathered 502 all-purpose yards. Martin ran for 232 yards on 21 attempts to go along with a TD. Knotts had 2 TDs, running for 67 yards, with 83 yards through the air. Cason Whitt threw for 221 yards with a TD and interception, completing 10 passes on 15 attempts.
Tracey Parker Jr. led the Rams defensively, compiling 13 tackles, 10 unassisted, and recovered a fumble. Frank Brooks was key in the special team's department with his 35-yard punt return TD.
BC heads to Kentucky next Saturday to take on University of the Cumberlands.
