Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. - Ram tough. That described the Bluefield College men's basketball team Wednesday night as they battled the No. 21 Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs at the Dome Gymnasium. TWC had a 18+ point lead on several occasions, but late in the contest the Rams battled to within three points before falling 75-67.
In the first half it appeared the Bulldogs would have their way with the Rams as Trey Suttles scored 21 first-half points and paced Tennessee Wesleyan to a 50-34 halftime lead. The Rams battled their way back behind the play of Cordaris Towns on both ends of the court. Towns blocked shots on the defensive end and hit layups, threes and free throws on the offensive end as Bluefield got to within three points late in the game.
Towns finished with 21 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. He had four blocked shots with two steals and an assist.
Joseph McClain tallied 10 points.
Tony Hood scored nine points and had seven rebounds to go along with two assists while
Alonzo Howard cleared the glass six times, dished out three assists, had a block and a steal.
Suttles was key for Tennessee Wesleyan as he scored 34 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out two assists and had a steal. He was the only Bulldog to score in double figures. Charles White had a game-high 10 rebounds.
TWC improved to 13-1 overall and 8-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Bluefield, who plays at Point on Saturday, dropped to 10-8 overall and 3-6 in the AAC.
