Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. - The 2015 Bowen Classic came to a conclusion Saturday afternoon as the Bluefield College Rams withstood a stinging effort from the Allen University Yellow Jackets and claimed a 63-54 win. It capped a weekend in which the Rams won a pair of games on its home court and carries BC into Monday night's game at crosstown rival Bluefield State College riding a four-game winning streak.
As in Friday night's contest vs. Methodist, BSC started slowly against Allen as both teams struggled to make shots from the field in the first half. After trailing early, the Rams took the lead midway through the opening half and held a 25-19 lead at the intermission.
Bluefield opened up a lead as high as 15 in the second half before the Yellow Jackets made a fervent comeback and pulled to within five points late in the contest. Bluefield withstood the charge and came away with the nine point victory.
Zeke Williams led the Rams scoring attack with 20 points. Teyon Henry added 14 and Sidney Knox contributed 10 points with four assists. Alonzo Howard tallied nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds while Khadier Fulcher came off the bench to clear seven boards.
Bluefield won the rebounding battle 43-32 and each Ram who played collected at least one rebound. Neither team shot well from the field as both connected on 30 percent of their shots in the contest.
Williams was named Classic MVP. The All-Classic team consisted of Tre Boutilier of Cumberlands, Jackson Whitley of Methodist, Seth Fitzgerald of Allen and  Teyon Henry and Alonzo Howard of Bluefield.
Bluefield College is now 7-2 and returns to action Monday night at Bluefield State.
In Saturday's opening game of the Bowen Classic, the University of the Cumberlands defeated Methodist University 69-55.
