VALLEY, Ala. – Back-to-back touchdowns for the Rams in the second quarter closed the gap, but after finding themselves in a 35-0 hole, the deficit prove to be too much to overcome as Point claimed the 57-28 victory at Ram Stadium in Valley, Ala., Saturday afternoon.

The hosting Skyhawks broke out to a 35-0 advantage at the 13:11 mark in the second quarter, led by a pair of first quarter touchdowns from Rufus Mason. Mason gave the Rams' defense trouble all day, as he rushed for 226 yards on the ground behind 26 carries.

Conversely, the Rams' run game was led by
Armani Ford, who got the Rams on the scoreboard with 6:55 remaining in the second quarter after a 65-yard touchdown run. Ford finished with 88 yards on the day.

After stopping the Skyhawks' offense, the Rams converted another lengthy play to score, as freshman Josh Erby connected with
Richard Johnson for a 45-yard touchdown completion. Johnson snuck past Point's defense, was led by Erby's pass and found the endzone untouched.

Despite starting the second half with the ball, the Rams couldn't carry momentum and cut the deficit any more. After a three-and-out to open the second half, the Skyhawks took over as Mason punched it in from three yards out to extend the advantage to 42-14.

The Rams added late scores in both the third and fourth quarters, as
Marion Harris converted a four-yard run and
Lamont Edwards ran it in from one yard out, leading to the 57-28 final in favor of the Skyhawks.

After not having a first down until the second quarter, the Rams found a little better flow on offense and recorded 14 first downs on the afternoon. Point moved the chains 21 times.

Point's offense racked up 515 total yards, 341 on the ground. Meanwhile, Bluefield went for 254 total yards, split between 131 on the ground and 123 in the air.

Earnest Moore was credited with a game high nine tackles, while
Frank Brooks was close behind with eight.

Richard Johnson tallied 101 receiving yards on just three receptions for the game high.

Bluefield turns around quickly, as they face Mid-South Conference East Division opponent, Pikeville on Thursday evening. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
