GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Bluefield College football team faced a tough test at #16 Georgetown College, Saturday, and were defeated 49-7 by the hosting Tigers. The game is the first of the Rams' final three games against nationally ranked opponents. All three are also divisional Mid-South Conference games.

Bluefield (0-9, 0-4 MSC East) went for 246 yards on the afternoon, splitting up its yardage with 149 on the ground and 97 through the air. Georgetown (5-3, 3-1 MSC East) compiled 465 yards of offense, having 256 yards rushing and 209 yards passing.

Adrian Pope led the Rams' rush with 83 yards including a long of 32 yards. Josh Erby completed seven passes for 60 yards, while
Dylan Kidd completed one pass for 37 yards. Erby connected with
Rodrell Smith for a 22-yard touchdown strike for BC's sole score of the game, but also threw a pair of interceptions.

In addition to the Rams' two interceptions, Bluefield lost four fumbles on the day to continue its struggles in giving the ball away. Georgetown threw one interception and lost one fumble.

Two of Bluefield's turnovers resulted directly in GC scores, as the Tigers returned both an interception and fumble for scores.

Bluefield came up empty on the game's opening possession, while the Tigers converted scores on its first three possessions in the first quarter to open up a 21-0 lead.

The Rams' sole score came in the second quarter, on a seven play, 71-yard drive.
Richard Johnson had a 31 yard rush to open the drive and push the Rams into Tiger territory. On a third-and-three play, Erby found
Rodrell Smith for an 11-yard gain and a first down. Facing another third down, with 10 yards to go, Erby hit Smith again for 22-yards and the score, brining the score to 21-7.

However, the Tigers came out strong once again in the third quarter and tacked on three more scores for a commanding 42-7 advantage through three quarters. GC found the endzone one more time in the fourth to take the 49-7 final.

Daniel Griffin had a strong outing for BC, punting seven times for 250 yards, an average of 35.7 yards. His longest was 44 yards, while he had one touchback and one punt end up inside GC's 20-yard line.

Ramir Hollis led the Rams' defensive effort with 15 total tackles, nine being solo.
Harry Hollins followed with 11 total tackles, eight of which were solo efforts.
Cordell Johns and
Robert Boatright followed with nine and eight total tackles, respectively.

The Rams tallied 5.5 sacks, the team's highest total since the program's return. The previous high had been three sacks, done twice this season. The 5.5 sacks went for 20 yards lost for the Tigers. Boatright earned 1.5 sacks, while Johns,
Dakota Painter and
Dillion Painter each tallied one.
Jonathan Toe and
Marco Vereen were both credited with half a sack.

Bluefield travels to Columbia, Ky., next weekend to face off with Lindsey Wilson College. The Blue Raiders are currently ranked 18
th in the nation and defeated Union College 72-9, Saturday.
