JACKSON, Miss. — After a 7-all tie, Belhaven University scored 59 unanswered points to defeat Bluefield College 66-10 in Mid South Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams'
Phillip Callier hauled in a six-yard pass from
Cory Mabry with 9:39 to play in the opening quarter and
Mikel Hawks' kick tied the game at seven.
Belhaven then scored 59 unanswered points, the string broken when
Caleb Frye booted a 30 yard field goal with 1:17 to play in the game.
Belhaven rushed for 385 yards, led by Kadero Edley with 118 yards on 13 carries and two scores. Rashad Wynes carried six times for 111 yards.
Quarterback Alex Williams completed 9-of-20 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Marion Harris was Bluefield's leading ball carrier with 43 yards on 10 rushes. Mabry carried 10 times for 28 yards and Wells 12 times for 21 yards. Mabry completed 14 of 31 passes for 103 yards and an interception.
Craig Walker snagged five passes for 28 yards and
Rodrell Smith had three catches for 39 yards.
Bluefield fell to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in Mid South Conference play. Belhaven moved to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the MSC.
The Rams have next week off before welcoming Lindsey Wilson to Mitchell Stadium for homecoming on Saturday Oct. 27 for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
